Ulzhan Tuleshova holds the esteemed position of Senior Instructor in History and is a young scientist affiliated with Farabi University in Almaty, Kazakhstan. With a keen specialization in the Social History of Kazakhs during the 19th and 20th centuries under the rule of the Russian Empire, she has made significant contributions to her field. Her academic achievements include the successful defense of her doctoral dissertation, which explored an intriguing and previously unexplored theme in world history: "Kazakh Nobility of the 19th Century: Formation and Development." Ulzhan's academic prowess has been acknowledged through various prestigious governmental and international scholarships. Notably, she received the Bolashak fellowship in 2022, as well as the Governmental scholarship for young talented scientists of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2021. Additionally, she was awarded a Grant for a young scholar of the Russian Federal Property Fund in 2019 for her research on "Social policy of the Russian Empire in the Kazakh Steppe in the 19th century: the problem of formation of new estates." Her dedication to scholarly pursuits is evident through her active participation in critical scientific events related to her research topic. Ulzhan regularly engages in internationally recognized conferences and has been the recipient of travel grants, including ESCAS in 2022 and ASEEES in 2020. In addition to her scholarly endeavors, Ulzhan possesses a passion for painting, which serves as a creative outlet for her. Her most recent publication, titled "Nomadic Nobles: Pastoralism and Privilege in the Russian Empire," authored in collaboration with Gulmira Sultangalieva and Paul W. Werth, was published in Slavic Review, Volume 81, Issue 1, in 2022, cementing her reputation as a respected researcher in her field.
